At The Cantabrian Eco-Apartments we want you to know the real Cantabria. That is the reason why we work closely with local businesses and entrepreneurs. To offer you a unique selection of experiences and ecotourism activities, so you can enjoy the most authentic version of Cantabria. This experience is one of those offered by our local partners:

The Deva river, natural frontier between Cantabria and Asturias, has been (and still is) an essential part of the Cantabrian culture. Deva is the name given by the ancient Cantabrians to their celt goddess, and as a consequence, Deva is one of the girl names most repeated in the region. Thus, canoeing this river is not just an opportunity for enjoying nature and doing sports, but a chance to discover a great part of Cantabria natural and cultural heritage.

CANOEING THE DEVA RIVER

Prepare your swimming suit, because you are about to immerse in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Cantabria. A trip that starts in Unquera, where Juan José and his team will introduce you to the adventure of canoeing the Deva river. The sacred river of Cantabrians.

Once you are ready, an instructor will lead you to Panes, in Asturias, where the route begins. There, you will have the chance to canoeing the river following your own rythm all the way back to Unquera.

12 km in total that you could enjoy in an individual or double canoe. However, if canoeing alone is not your cup of tea, you can always request the company of an instructor.

Fall in love with the transparent water, the stony riverbed and the emerald banks without any rush. Have fun going through the river little swirls and enjoy the peace during the calmest tracts. Stop for getting some tan in the shore or eating your picnic in one of its small stone beaches. It is sure that thanks to this experience, you will always remember the sacred goddess Deva.

TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT, IT IS OUR RESPONSABILITY

This activity is carried out in a natural environment that we shall protect.

Please, remember to respect the flora and fauna of the river and take care of your waste.

WHO ORGANISES IT?

Aqua21 was one of the firsts adventure companies offering canoe rentals to enjoy the Deva river. And it is not casual, as Juan José has been canoeing the Deva since he was eight years old.
